Highlights: Covered the first general election after five years of military ruling and the fallout of an inconclusive poll, and reporting on Southeast Asia’s second biggest economy where exports and tourism are key drivers amid the U.S.-China trade war and the pandemic. Regularly break news and move markets, while producing enterprise stories that other publications follow.

Received the Melvin Mencher Award for superior reporting for an investigative story on state prisons across the U.S. denying 97 percent of hepatitis C-infected inmates access to the $50,000 cure, resulting in hundreds of deaths.
Coursework included beat reporting in Midtown Manhattan, business and economic reporting, narrative writing, data journalism, and investigative reporting and workshops. Reported on retail industry, unemployment, and housing market. Part of a team investigating corruption in a local sheriff’s office with NYT’s Walt Bogdanich.

NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation, TV Reporter
October 2016 – August 2017
Reported and presented political, economic, social and cultural news stories in the field and in studio for NHK’s English-language channel. Wrote South and Southeast Asian daily news scripts and anchor lead-ins for 24-hour flagship news program Newsline. Packaged videos, edited sound bites and produced voiceovers for feature stories. Served as anchor producer for daily live newscasts from Bangkok bureau.
Highlights: Covered Thailand’s royal succession and its sociopolitical effects. Reported issues faced by some of the poorest communities such as the threats from landmines along the border and the lack of space in the largest slum.

German Press Agency dpa, Reporter
June 2014 – September 2016
Reported and wrote more than 300 news stories and features with own byline for the English-language service of the world’s fifth-largest wire service. Frequently shot and edited photos and videos for stories. Assisted German correspondents with research and interviews. Edited dpa’s news websites and managed its Twitter account.
Highlights: Covered a deadly bombing, including breaking news and more than 50 follow-up stories. Reported extensively on the military government, human trafficking and forced labor. Wrote feature stories on economy, illicit trade of drugs and guns, and local festivals and culture.

August 2010 – May 2014
Coursework included reporting and editing news, photography and graphic design. Led the school’s English-language magazine CHASE as the Editor-in-Chief. Studied abroad for one semester at Sciences Po in Paris, and wrote for the school’s bilingual magazine Paris Globalist. Completed a two-month internship at Reuters, where overall daily responsibilities included interviewing sources, covering briefings and updating commodity prices and economic forecasts.
